Atlanta Personal Injury Attorney, Bob Windholz
Early Life
Robert S. Windholz was born in Newark, NJ. He grew up in Roselle, NJ, a small town of 15,000 persons that abuts Elizabeth, NJ. He attended public schools, graduating in 1959. His parents both worked. His father as a CPA in private practice until the early 1950's and then with the Dept. of Defense, USAF as a contract reviewer. His mother, Anne, worked, almost until her death in 2002 as a bookkeeper. Both parents were very hardworking and devoted themselves to Bob and his sister, Ronnye. In school Bob played basketball and baseball at the varsity level.
His family lived in a garden apartment unit until he was 17. Air-conditioning was a luxury and in the warm, humid New Jersey summers it was common to sleep on the second story fire escape to escape theuncomfortable climate.
College Bob attended Lafayette College in Easton, PA and after two years transferred to Rutgers University where he obtained his B.A. degree in 1964.
Military On July 15, 1964 Bob entered the Navy’s aviation officer candidate program in Pensacola, FL in pre-flightclass 28-64. There were some strange training experiences as trainees. The Dilbert Dunker was one such experience (Real Media 394K). In October 1964 he was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Navy and began NAO School at Pensacola until the Spring of 1965. Bob attended various navy technical schools through 1965 and eventually was assigned to a Navy Squadron at NAS Quonset Point. The squadron was being downsized in late 1966 and Bob applied to and was accepted in the Navy’s Russian language program, where he spent 47 weeks of instruction at the Defense Language Institute East Coast. In 1968 Bob was assigned to the Naval Security Group, a service cryptologic agency operating in coordination with the National Security Agency. After some additional training he was assigned to an operational base in the Phillippines from which he served as an OIC [Office in Charge] of on- board detachments in the Gulf of Tonkin during most of 1968.The class of ships was guided missile frigates [DLG] and the detachments worked directly for the commanding officer and his staff. These ships operated within 12 miles of the North Vietnamese coast at various times. In April 1970 Bob got his DD 214 [Honorable Discharge] and became a civilian again, after almost 6 years service in the Navy. The one memory of note from his military experience was being a witness, with others, to an action in which the Congressional Medal of Honor was awarded to a navy helicopter pilot, Lt. junior grade, Clyde Lassen. Please visit the Navy heritage page for this story with video.
Legal Career Currently rated AV by Martindale-Hubbel, Bob began his legal education at Emory University Law School and graduated in May 1973. In the Navy Bob was involved in a few courts martials and since college had considered a legal career. The challenges of the law had always held a fascination for Bob and he had contemplated a legal career in the last years of his navy service. His initial thoughts about the legal system was a kinship for the underdog and championing those rights fits in naturally with a personal injury practice. Bob is not a fan of insurance companies or their "fellow travelers" but understands the need for some entity to fund [in exchange for premium charges] those persons injured at the hands of the entire grouping of careless companies and individuals.
Even before graduation from Emory, Bob began working with a prominent Atlanta attorney, Joseph M. Salome [deceased]. In June 1973, after being sworn in as a licensed attorney, Bob practiced as an associate attorney with Mr. Salome, whose practice focused on criminal law and other areas of general practice, including personal injury.
In 1976 Bob began his own practice at 450 14th Street in Atlanta and by 1979 was beginning to concentrate and focus his practice in the area of personal injury. In 1980 he attended a one week trial seminar sponsored by ATLA [Association of Trial Lawers] and upon his return devoted himself more intensely to enforcing the rights of persons injured by the negligence of others. Bob Personal Injury Attorney, Personal Injury Attorneys, Malpractice Attorney, Malpractice Attorneys, Auto Accident Attorney, Auto Accident Attorneys, Workers Compensation Attorney, Workers Compensation Attorneys, Workmans Compensation Attorney, Workmans Compensation Attorneys, Workman's Compensation Attorney, Atlanta, Attorney, Injury, General Injury, Car, Truck, Fall Defective Product, malpractice, Drunk Driving, DUI, DWI, Attorneys, Attornies, atorney, atalantamoved from 14th Street to Peachtree Street in Atlanta at two different locations and in late 2001 moved his practice to its present location.
Bob’s practice as shown by the list of appellate cases of all types in which he’s been involved demonstrates his commitment to his clients’ interests at all levels of lawyering. Many of his early trials and appeals were in the criminal arena when he practiced with Joseph Salome [well known for his excellent criminal trial skills]. Joe Salome was an excellent mentor.
